Topic: In-Clinic Cardiology: How to Get the Ball Rolling
About Our Speaker: Born and raised in Allen Park, Michigan, Dr. Doug Clarke has been keeping hearts beating—both animal and human—for over three decades. A graduate of Michigan State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine (Class of ’92), he started as a relief and associate veterinarian before establishing Pet Vet Clinic in Grandville in 1996.
Although not board certified, Dr. Clarke has been the go-to veterinarian for cardiac referrals since 1998, combining a deep knowledge of cardiology with a practical approach for everyday practice. In 2023, he transitioned to Jelsema Veterinary Clinic, where he continues his work as their in-house cardiology resource.
Outside of practice, Dr. Clarke enjoys playing guitar, relaxing with a good book or movie, and appreciating a well-earned oatmeal stout. He and his wife, fellow veterinarian Dr. Gretchen Neering, have been married for 32 years and share a son, two cats, two dogs, and a horse.
