Topic: Microbiology and Cultures

Join us for an engaging and clinically relevant discussion on veterinary microbiology and diagnostic culture techniques. This session will review best practices for sample collection, interpretation of culture and sensitivity results, and common pitfalls that can impact diagnostic accuracy. Through a combination of foundational principles and real-world case examples, attendees will gain practical insights to help guide antimicrobial decision-making and improve patient outcomes in everyday practice.

About our speakers:

Meera Surendran-Nair, DVM, PhD, DACVM

Dr. Surendran-Nair is a veterinary microbiologist with Antech Diagnostics, specializing in infectious disease diagnostics and antimicrobial stewardship. She brings extensive expertise in culture interpretation and laboratory diagnostics to support clinical decision-making.

Lindsay Avila, DVM
Dr. Avila is a veterinarian with Antech Diagnostics who focuses on clinical application of diagnostic testing. She will present case-based examples to illustrate how microbiology results can be integrated into patient care.
